My brother in law was at Mantis yesterday. He was impressed with their service. A previous shop gave him a list of work that Mantis said wasn’t needed.
This is what I appreciate about Mantis. Similar to Brent Hunter, they are transparent about what's going on, what isn't needed, what can be deferred, and what is urgent (i.e. your wheel is going to fall off....)
I had my car at the dealership once and without surprise, they gave me a laundry list of items to check off. More than 80% of it wasn't required when I got a second opinion from Mantis.

i am sure, like any business, revenue is important. Over my many years of Porsche ownership, i have used both dealership and independent service facilities.
Prior to 2022, my dealership service experiences, after vehicle warranties had expired, were not good. For example, in 2004, Pfaff said I needed a new clutch. Courtney of EU said all was well and, in 2025, clutch has still not needed replacement!
Based on Ronan’s recommendation, i decided to use Downtown Porsche for a major service prior to a cross Canada trip to Tofino. He referred me to Peter Groenke and I have been using them ever since. The classic car discount puts them slightly above my local independent service shop (except for oil changes). Peter really takes the time to determine what is actually needed and, in my opinion, has a customer first attitude. A quick example was with my passenger side sun visor mirror. The cover had fallen off and the Porsche Canada price was some outrageous amount for the entire new assembly. Peter directed me to Suncoast Porsche and the part was ridiculously less…he was happy to install.
As they say at PCA, it’s all about the people…find someone good, keep a relationship and you will be rewarded with good service and fair pricing.

I had to stop going to Porsche Centre North Toronto. They don't like modified cars in any way, won't perform PCA tech inspections, even if paid, and they very politely told me to pound sand. But they keep calling me back to do oil changes. So...I'm confused.

I'm giving Pfaff in Vaughan a try for the first time next week. Fingers crossed that they are much better than PCO! When the warranty is up on the Macan, we'll be taking it to Mantis.

Please keep us posted on your experience. I just picked up a CPO car from there and could not be happier with the staff and sales department. Given the car is under warranty and that Pfaff is in my backyard, I am hoping their service department is similarly stellar!

Will do! A number of guys here go to Pfaff and are happy with their service dept.

I'd second this. I had booked my car into an independent for oil separator replacement and they booked me out two weeks to get part etc. Arrived, took huge Uber ride home only to be called a few hours later saying they didn't have the part. DFC took care of it the bext day and replaced for less (with 'vintage' discount). Similarly, my sunroof had stopped working, they did a quick diagnostic and gave me the bad news of something like $5,000 for parts and labour. Opened it up and told me it was a minor part with the total charge being < $300.
Final point that also really stuck with me. I wanted a bit of 'Porsche coolant' and went to parts. They said they didn't have any / low quantity but took the time to track down a container and give me about 2L free. Small thing but it stuck.
however I still do my own oil, filter, brakes and discs 😌 💰 💰
I went to Wolff Autowerks due to Ernie's affiliation. To be clear, it is owned by Mark Wolff. While Ernie is there sometimes, the main tech is Zoltan.
I tried them for Ernie's presence and have stayed with my 991.1 as I really like the small, independent feel. I am very comfortable with their talent, skill and professionalism. They do a great job at a fair price. I am loyal. To be clear, I still think Mantis is a good shop, but more corporate than it was under Ernie (which has pros and cons).
I retired to Friday Harbour, Lake Simcoe, so it is a hike for my annual service but it is so convenient to the Go that I use it for an excuse of a day in the city with free parking
I am also a long time Hunters customer and looking for a new shop to maintain my car. Btw, where do you guys do used oil analysis? Not sure if you can mail the oil to US for Blackstone. Any advice?
