Tranny rebuilders
Hi there. My s4 tranny has died .Slipping in all gears except reverse.Rear suspension is out . Possibly will remove transmission on the weekend if it warms up.Anyone know of a good tranny shop,NOT Norden autohause!!!! They are not interested in working on an old 88 Auto. Took my car in last summer for an alignment, they could only do the front . They said"it would take a lot of work to unseize adjustments and by torching it may cause further damage to other parts ". As I've already said I removed the suspension out myself without to much effort. What B.S.!! I used to take my car to Eurasia, but unfortunatly they burnt down. They were eager to please. What a shame. Any help is much appreciated. Thankyou Mike. "JUST A PEASANT IN A PORSCHE."

Sorry I did not see your post until now. I cannot help you with a specific transmission shop, but talk to you local Mercedes dealer and see what independent shops service their customers. FYI, the 928n transmission is essentially an MB one in a Porsche case.
I had my transmission rebuilt 2 years ago by a local independent guy who knew all about MB transmissions. Search the Rennlist 928 forum archive and you will find lots of info on transmission troubles and fixes. Basically, if the transmission shop does not first check the transmission pressures, keep moving to another one. Also, the shift cable adjustments are very finicky...if the shop does not know this, again keep moving.
My rebuild cost me about $1,400Cdn total...that included the torque tube rebuild, trans rebuild and R&R of the trans and TT.
Hope this helps,
