I wonder what the F/R weight distribution will be after you complete the swap? Should be a lot less tail heavy than before I assume... interesting to see how this pans out.

Thanks for all the positive support so far

I'll definitely keep you guys updated on the progress - It'll be about 2 weeks until the adapter kit is here unfortunately

As for the LS comparison question

I think this will work out to be significantly cheaper, just as powerful and easier to install - Packaging is much simpler with this engine, so far i dont believe i will have to cut any of the car to make it work, unlike an LS swap

Cost wise - These 2012 to 2015 engines are only about $900-$1000 with 100K on them. In stock form they are proven to make 400whp and 300wtq reliably - Or add forged pistons and rods which are less then $1000 for the set plus $1500 to machine and assemble the engine and you are at $3500 for a built bullet proof 600HP engine

The currently available adapter kit with the clutch kit is only $1900USD and if this all works out, i plan on reproducing the engine brackets i make so others can do the swap if so inclined

You could have picked up a Boxter with a blown engine for a few grand and do the swap in that.

Indeed - 3.8L in a Boxster would be cool

Put the 3.8 in an S2000 and your journey will be complete!

I suggested to the Viper guys I put a Ferrari F12 engine in the ACR and they nearly organized a lynch mob!

I think he meant put the boosted Honda engine in a Boxster with a blown motor. I picked up one for $3800. Much cheaper platform to experiment with and you can change the spark plugs and fill the oil no problem!

Very cool.... I happen to be researching modifying Lotus Elises a few weeks ago, and the K20 is one of the engines they sometimes swap into them. I had wondered if anyone did it to a 997....now I no longer have to wonder LOL

Looking forward to updates

Awesome! I am not sure I would do this with a car with a running motor but why not. K20 or K24 have been proven to be reliable and simple to work on.
There are lots of people swapping them into more and more cars. There are a few K20 Toyota MR2, Mini Coopers around BC.

Thanks - Part of the reasoning to swap out the perfectly good running engine is to get ahead of any costly engine repairs. Swapping in the K24 engine will net more power and peace of mind that i can beat on it without worry. If by chance the K24 fails, they are easy to find and cheap to replace.

I think we all know these 911 engines are not easy to come by and are pretty costly to replace and or rebuild.

Plus - if i decide to sell the 911 engine in the future it should technically fund this whole swap

I bought a wreck with a great well maintained powertrain and did the swap.
