My company is Flat 6 Innovations, not LN Engineering.
Further, I do not recommend Motul products.

Are you saying you recommend against Motul, or just that you haven't specifically recommended them?

I only make oil recommendations to the purchasers of my engines. In those cases, they are mandates. My engines comprise 100% of my focus, research, and development. Any recommendations are only made in private. Motul is not currently on my list.

Sorry Jake got mixed up between you and LN Remember reading somewhere here either you or Charles said that Motul was a decent oil. Since you now say you don’t recommend it I retract what I said.

To others in this thread, research Motul Xcess and you will see many engine builders recommend it and it is Porsche A40 approved.

They use Joe Gibbs Driven products. I use the DT40 5w40 in mine

If you want to waste a day (although some of it is quite funny) go on the 997 forum and search for what is the best oil

I refrain from making these recommendations for many reasons.. At the end of the day I am biased on this topic from two fronts:

1- If you make poor oil decisions, and experience a failure due to this as a factor, then I benefit. Why? Well, because if you are smart you’ll have me reconstruct the engine after failure. People that really think, see this and have brought it up to me.

2- Is simply because I have assisted in the direct development of oil products, and at times have even had my name on the bottle.

That said, the main problem we see with lubricants that we see comes from keeping the oil in service too long. Even crappy oil will protect if you keep it changed.

+1 for germanparts and Motul 8100 X-Cess 05W40. It's LN Engineering that recommends Motul: https://lnengineering.com/products/motul.html
