Used Winter wheel and tire pkge pricing
 

Guys, just curious what a pristine set of OEM 19’s with rubber would be going for. The set I have a line on were brand new in Nov 2017. Although the pic I rec’d doesn’t show the tire manufacturer, there appears to be a good amount of tread and I’ve confirmed the wheels are the appropriate specs for my car. Feedback would be great appreciated. TIA!

if its a set just pay for the wheels, tires should be free. Be sure the wheels are OEM, not cheap knock offs. Since those don't have any markings on the wheels they may be knock offs. If OEM wheels somewhere 1-2k. I would also check carefully for scratches and dings and deduct repair cost from price. The way they are stacked in the pic (with no cardboard between wheels) I would bet they are scratched from stacking.

A while back, Mark Motors was selling at set of 20's for a 991S for $2k. No rubber, but that's a dealer, they were take offs from a new car, so brand new. 19's would be less and as Tubodan said the rubber is essentially worthless....or very little at best if its rubber that you can use. Just make sure they really are OEM.

if the rims look good and no signs of crash damage, I would say offer somewhere between 50-75% of new. Like others said, see if they are OEM or not, and get a baseline price from there.

The rubber, take a tread depth measurement. You can get a gauge from Cdn Tire for probably under $10...

Look at what new is for the tire model.. I suspect somewhere around 10/32" for a winter tire...
if the tire has between
8-9/32" - offer 60- 70% of new cost - decent tire life left
6-7/32" - offer 50% of new cost - tire is half done, and you are getting the 'worse' half of the tire wear
5/32" - offer 35-40% of new. - tire is mostly done.
4/32" is 1/8" - a winter tire is done Iin my opinion)

I typically start looking at replacing a winter tire at 5/32" That's just about a smidge more than 1/8" tread depth; but I do a lot of winter driving - typically 20K km, through areas that typically can get a lot of snow.

Thx guys. The wheels are OEM and I noticed after posting that the tires are Contis. Wish I knew what original cost of package was but asking price is a little higher than I wanted to spend even if tire pressure monitoring and caps are included. Awaiting info on specs of tires and best price. I’ll check them out in person and have a tire depth gauge ...

If the tires are good why should they be free? Makes no sense

I agree although I do believe used tires not worth more than 50 cents on the dollar assuming there’s still lots of tread left AND not more than a year or two old.

Wheels are in perfect condition with German factory weights still on them. Tires are NO spec and tread is at 9/32’s (10/32’s new). 50% of retail seems to be the best deal I can get on these. More than I planned but less than cost to buy new non OEM wheels with tires ...

I tried. Seller not budging. If they were 20’s, I’d find it easier to rationalize the $’s as they’ll fit any car but since this is a lease it’s entirely possible I’ll need different wheels for the next one ...

Used tires are not worth much. 50% of new is a very optimistic price. On a good day, the seller will be lucky to get 25% back of what the tires cost new. If the seller thinks they can get more for them, especially at this time of the year, then let them sit on it for a bit. Then in a few weeks contact them again as ask if they are still firm on their price.

I'd offer $3500 and see... I have no idea what the price breakdown is on that package as rubber vs rims...
