I'm on board 100% I have no issue with getting my hands dirty, and I agree this is not the best way to do things. but I am currently living without a garage or most of the tools. but the work space is the main reason. I dont want people to think I am saying I would be able to do these things but if I had the space I could at least give it a try.

On a second note I do not believe I have a $5000 car, not a 20k car either but somewhere in the middle

OK the car is back in my driveway the bill was high but the car feels great, I am sure they did more then they billed me for. I put 100km on it so far and feels super smooth I guess I am learning little by little what kind of a pile it was when i picked it up last year. it feels like a different car. I don't wanna say new car cause she still rattles a bit. its so nice looking out my window knowing its running better If only the sun would come out I would keep driving. This is the largest single repair bill I have ever had but behind the wheel It doesn't hurt so much

As for the exhaust and chip they will have to wait. I am all tapped out for cash for the exhaust and I wouldn't want to mess with the computer till I have at least 1k on the new clutch and head gasket.

TBC.....

I do everything myself.
If you saw the bills for the last 20 years Batman would never come out of his cave.

The sun came out a little so I did another 100km tonight tons of stop and go on the way out to Burlington on Lakeshore then QEW/403 back to Mississauga everything sounds great at every speed, gears are super smooth. and I have a crazy feeling it is much quieter inside now not sure what they did but I can now hear people on my speaker phone. All of these repairs were unexpected for me and if I knew I was going to pay this much to have everything fixed I might have held off a while but in the end I think this was the right place to go, maybe once I have my own driveway to work in I will be able to give some of these things a try myself. I know I've watched enough youtube to at least try a few things.

Do you have any family/friends that have a driveway or a garage for to use to fix the car? Most of these things are a few evenings worth of work. You could bribe them with a case of beer. Way cheaper than the shop. The 944, much like the 928, are not cars that are worth much. Fixing them yourself is the only way to not to go upside down too much. I should know, I have a 928. My 996 on the other hand has been going up in value for the last 4 years even though the engine has been taken out of it.

Power steering is bleeding all over the place . looks like I am going to just drain all the fluid and cut the belt for now and take the pump off at my next opportunity.

With a 944 the joy never lasts.
If you need a pump i think i have one. But its usually the hose or the rack seals
Also beware. A power steering car with power steering not working is not the same as a non power steering designed car.
I don't think you will like the experience very much

I prefer 944s with power steering not working.

I'm a little torn, I really don't mind it. but I don't like the idea of something not working on the car.

On a brighter note

How about first having a look to see where the leak it and then decided what to do? Sounds like the honeymoon is over. If you want to get rid of the car (I don’t blame you) now is the time of the year to do it.

No I very much love this car and I know when everything is working right I will love it even more. I'm not sure if it was the line or the pump but where ever it is its a very fast leak , I think everything came out in 1 day. anyways know if there is any harm in running the pump without fluid for a while ? I would hate to have to park it again so soon out of the garage.

running the pump without fluid will absolutely destroy it in very short order.
remove the belt. I can remember if its a dedicated belt for the PS pump on that car. I think it is.

Cut or remove the belt of else you will burn out the pump. It will be hard to steer. My 928 has the belt off and have to plan ahead when moving around in a parking lot. Once the car is moving, it isn’t that bad.
