Question Help Please - Ottawa Shop for Toyota Brake Job

Hi All, Anyone know of a decent and fair repair shop to get the brakes done on my sister's 05 Toyota Corolla LE?

Needs Rear drums & shoes, hardware kit, etc. On a 14-year old OEM replacement parts will do just fine.

If she goes on her own to the shop around the corner she hasn't got a clue, so she'll likely over-pay.

Thanks All,

You could do a FaceTime or Skype video via cell call and talk to the shop for her while she is booking it in.

Phil the manager from the CT in Ottawa used to post on here that they did good work. He had a 997 with a blown engine. If he were manager still I would bring it to him. Otherwise I got nothing. If she is on budget, perhaps source the parts first?

I can't verify anything above other than his name: Adam Roseneck

I would think it's a pretty standard job on a Corolla.
Canadian Tire, Midas, Speedy etc etc

Find the local College that teaches automotive technicians and see if the corolla is new enough for them to take in for a brake job. Did this with my car a long time ago when I was going to college. They only charged the cost of the parts and nothing else.

Phil - with all due respect, that's like asking if anyone knows of a decent and fair shop where she can buy a carton of milk without overpaying. It's an 05 Corolla with drum brakes... how much could she possibly spend overpaying? $40?

Have her take it to any Toyota dealership and be done with it.

I was thinking the same thing except don't take it to the dealer they will make something up and say car is dangerous to drive without the headlight fluid being changed for $800.
go to an indy shop. you can ask for CAA approved shop.

Actually, over 4 times your conservative estimate of $40.

I called MyAutoParts.ca where I buy my parts - $128, plus tax. (granted, OEM)

The "Garage Around the Corner" quoted $286.06, plus tax for parts.

But it's not the $158.00 difference as much as my sister's complete lack of remorse in spending money that is not hers to spend.

I'd rather give a chimpanzee a machine gun than my sister a green-light to spend with a credit card.

"How can I be over-drawn? I still have some cheques left..."

Cheers, & thanks, Just going through the rest of the thread.

Then just send her to Canadian Tire. At least they can’t over charge on parts. If you are lucky, they might have some of the brake parts on sale.
