Default OT: Gaming PC Build - Take 2 - more geek wisdom please.

I am starting a build on a gaming PC to run more PUBG and Fortnite at home.

Currently have a $25 kijiji LCD panel that does 1650x1050ish, that I will be using unless I find a 1080 75 mhz monitor on sale

I am picking up a used MSI GTX 1060 with 6gb of ram and a 800W PSU for $250 from kijiji tonight.

Hoping for a Ryzen 5 2600 sale after boxing day, and purchasing an accompanying motherboard...

I have a dilemma on the case. I was going to budget about $50, but the RGB cases look nice, and well that's the part that you see, so I'm thinking about increasing that to $100. I'm wondering if I get a nicer case, do people tend to reuse them on future builds and sell off their old hardware?

Looking at the Crucial MX500 1TB SSD for $160

and 16gb of the appropriate RAM.

I'm going to buy a recycled WIndows Key online for the OS.

I've never personally done that, tend to cascade the PC to other family members.....

My son is a massive gamer. He says its not about aesthetics . Most gamers have no cases with parts everywhere.
He suggested picking up a Computer from a recycling drop off spot and using that.

Picked up the used graphics card and PSU last night... Bought it from a university student who was back home for the holidays. He is upgrading from the 1060 to a 1070 GPU.

.....

I did find an old i5-4590, As rock Motherboard, and 16gb DDR3 RAM on kijiji for $300 locally... it intrigues me a little bit.... I don't know if it is worth it at that price... If I can get him down to about $200 I might consider that?

Looking at completed auctions on ebay.
used i5-4590 go for about $90-110CDN
used 16gb RAM is right around $80CDN
used Asrock z97 Anniversary motherboard ?$65-115CDN (* last *New* prices - 2 yrs ago according to pcpartspicker in Canada)

----
I have a cheap gaming mouse, and I am going to reuse my son's cheap (under $50 Amazon) gaming keyboard with the fancy LED lights....
----

On my gaming laptop, I've only played PUBG about 150 hrs since getting it over 12 months ago....

-----
This machine may get about 2-3 hrs of PUBG from me per week (I'm more a console guy), and about 5-15 hrs of Fortnight from my son and the neigbour kid. Son and neighbor kid like to play together at our house, and then join up with buds on console as Fortnight is cross platform.

We use similar cpu coolers. Issue is they don't fit in all cases. You end up running without a case side panel.
I personally would not purchase a used motherboard. They always have components breaking down from over clocking.
The CPUs seem to protect themselves better.

Ended up building this gaming computer.

I replaced the stock ryzen cooler with a liquid all in one from deep cool...

Also bought a $100 1080p monitor...

Between kijiji, Newegg and boxing day at Canada computers, spent $1370...

Ryzen 5 2600 running at 4.150ghz, gtx gtx 1060 6gb video card and lots of fancy lights.

Thanks for the help.

nice, I like the case! I'm interested in building a gaming computer again but I just don't have the time to game these days... and consoles are so turn key. I have a Xim4 adapter which lets me use a proper kb/m. Have a logitech G710+ kb and Proteus G502 mouse. best reviewed devices I could find and bought them over 2 years ago new. they have been amazing. Also using a 27" BENQ RL2755 gaming monitor (MLG approved!) rofl... monitor is good, but could use something with a higher res with the ps4 pro and have some better capability for a PC in future...

I just started playing pubg on ps4... its amazing how much better and more involved it is than pubg mobile...
