Books for the Porsche Obsessed....

The Porsche books in my library continue to accumulate, so thought it would be good if you are among the truly deluded Porsche lovers for whom nothing is too trivial.There had been a massive amount written about Porsche ( and Ferrari of course), and over the years I have come across some good ones.

Porsche Early History

Ferdinand Porsche was designing cars from the end of the 19th century so most of his personal achievements occurred before the found go Porsche in 1948, and he would die in 1950

The best book on his history is Porsche Genesis of Genius ( Ludvigsen) which covers all of his work from the beginning up to the Auto Union days

Things get a little sensitive during the Nazi era, but there are some books ti be found:

Professor Porsche’s War Machines ( Ludvigsen) describes well his military escapades:

A little more pointed information can be found in Hitler’s Motor Racing Battles that covers the Porsche-Designed Auto Unions

Porsche from 1948

The most essential single publication on Porsches is “Porsche- excellence was expected”…(Ludvigsen) 3 vols…very well written.

The second essential is the Porsche Book ( Barth) which exhaustively covers productions details for every car…

I believe all issues of 000 from Issue 001 forward are available, though 2-3 are getting to low supply.

If one was inclined to be rather less focused, then consider 2 books by Randy Leffingwell

Porsche 911, 50 years. and Porsche 70 years. Both good reads.

Also Porsche 911 Story by Paul Frere and Tony Dron.

As stated not as focused as the other books, but nevertheless lots of detail given.
