Last April was the first time that I ever got caught out on summer tires in the snow. That was in my Audi S4 and it’s some of the sketchiest , white knuckle driving that encountered despite the fact that it was only about 2-3 cm deep. It was difficult just to get moving on side streets in Toronto. That won’t happen again...the winters are going on this weekend.

Driving on snow with summers is as though the road was covered with marbles.

Yeah. I got caught out for the first time last year. Went from dry and sunny to a blizzard in minutes. As soon as there was any trace of snow on the road, it's like the car had no brakes at all. Accelerating and steering were ok, relatively speaking, but the lightest touch on the brake pedal would immediately put it into ABS and the car would just keep rolling and rolling. Managed to nurse it at home without incident, but white knuckled a bit on the gentle downhill toward a stop sign before the turn onto my street!
