Do you drive your 911 all year round?

Do you drive your 911 all year round?
I currently have a 987.2 for summer, and I’m considering trading in for a 991 and get ride of my winter car all together..
Is this practical? There’s not many 991 c4 on the market...
I never had a rear wheel drive in winter, i know a few guys drive RWD with winter tires they said it’s fine, but I saw a bimmer having hard time getting over a bridge so idk... I work from home a couple of days a week, so unexpected snow storm is my concern, and salt...
Thoughts?

You will get a lot of different opinions on this. I have never driven my 911's in the winter. Having said that a 4wd with snows is good in the snow as long as it is not deep. Poor ground (snow ) clearance. I would cry driving mine in the salt.

I wouldn’t drive my C2S in the winter but my buddy has a 991.2 C4S and claims it’s the best winter car (with snows) he’s ever driven. His previous car to this was a Macan so I’m inclined to believe that his 911 is a pretty darn good winter car. I should mention that his car doesn’t have SPASM nor RAS so he’s got a little more clearance (than mine) and can run 19” winters. I’m sure that a foot of snow would mean the 911 would be plowing but depending on where the OP lives would be the basis of whether or not big dumps play into this decision. I personally don’t worry much about salt as I rarely keep winter driven cars for more than 4 years ...

I drove my 996 year round with winter tires. It was great, and I would do it again. I have a Boxster S now, and would also do the same.

I daily drove my 997 and it was the most enjoyable (and most capable) vehicle I have driven in the winter. Just get a good set of snows and you will be fine. The only issue is as previously noted, i.e., ground clearance, which may/may not be an issue depending on your personal circumstances (long commute, city/rural driving) and the severity of the winter. It's not a Bugatti so drive it 365 if you can.

Nope but usually GTA city streets in winter are dry so I would if I lived in the city but only would drive on those type of dry road days with winter tires.

I DD'ed my 997.1 S for 20 months straight.
6 summer tires and a set of snows on rims.
Can you drive it all winter in Toronto? Sure.
Snow is not the problem. Other citiots are the issue.
Plus Toronto does not clear the streets in time.
They don't send out plows in rush hour or during the day.
Plows can't get down secondary street with all the parked cars on them.
They your running down frozen packed snow with two ruts.
I never had the guts to take it to collingwood for the weekend.
A forecast of 2-3 cm can easily turn into 10-15 near georgian bay.
Work from home, not commuting in it? Heated seats and four fresh snow tires. I'd do it again.
But I'm no Citiot.

Nope. Do I have the desire to drive it in the winter, perhaps. However the desire to winter drive it doesn't overcome the desire to keep it salt free. Would love to drive it in the California or Arizona winter!
I imagine a 4S would be fun to drive in the winter but as others have mentioned I would worry about clearance on unplowed roads, driveways etc. This also depends on where you live.

A tire/brake shop I got know too well says to get the brakes serviced after winter because of the issue of the brine used on the roads. A good time is when switching to summer rubber. The problem is the brine is acidic and gummy too. It interferes with the floating of the pads and can cause uneven pad wear.

I drive my 09 997tt all winter. I live in winnipeg. My front lip is toast. It starts up in very cold weather. Pretty unhappy but she goes.
i have tossed around the idea of parking it but right now we are going to continue driving it.

I drove my 996TT a few times the first winter I had it. With a set of Blizzacks it took off like a scared cat in the snow. Most amount of fun I have ever had in the snow.
I've spend the last 4 years since then cleaning off the corrosion from the salt.
