Heimrath Porsche - Scarborough
Hi everyone. By chance does anyone have any photos of Heimrath Porsche from Scarborough? I know they folded in the 90s.
Any information on the dealer would be appreciated.

yeah I used to buy some parts there time to time. Rumour has it the dealership was pulled from Heimrath so he had to change the name of the place.
funny story . I bought some rotors off the parts guy and was bringing them back .. Ludwig walks up and says why are you returning these ? you should be paying 20% restocking fee If you ordered the wrong ones !. parts guy pipes up and says , "no it was my mistake" , he looked at the microfiche and ordered the wrong ones.
I said to Ludwig, well since it was YOUR mistake do I get a 20% discount since I had to drive back from Cambridge because of your mistake ?
he just laughed turned and walked away ..
typical.

Yep. His parts/service manager said his nickname was "nasty". Not a pleasant fellow. I was told, and this is rumour, that he would modify cars and put it through as warranty work. That is why Porsche ended his dealership. But that may just be urban legend. Way more choices today. With his attitude toward customers no way he would stay in business. Never enjoyed talking to him. He made you feel that he was doing you a favour just letting you in. He and Downtown were the only dealers in Toronto. You had to go to Pfaff in Newmarket or Performance Cars in St.Catherines for other options. Times have certainly changed.

Not sure who it was but 2 or 3 years ago at the UCR Concourse an older guy was making negative comments about my 928 and then he said "you don't remember Heimrath Porsche do you, I ran it". I said no, but no wonder it's out of business and I walked away. Guy was a total *** hat. LOL My 87 came from Performance cars.

I have an article from 2001 about his dealership that discusses how in 1995 Porsche cancelled his franchise agreement. There was a gag order that prevented him, supposedly, from talking about it.
The reason I am interested is my neighbor is considering selling his 930, black on black, and the car originally came from there. It didn't run in years but I can get it for a sweet deal. No photos yet. I will post the article I have later.

Funny, as I drive with him all the time at the EA track days @ Mosport--very nice fellow. Maybe age has mellowed him, I think he's like 84 y.o......but he still drives the crap out of that GT2

I read that he had a finger switch on the wheel of his 935 to light the brake light to fool competitors into believing he was braking early.

Back in the day what I heard (from PCNA) was he would not meet dealer requirements for tools. Came to a head when a number of warranty claims for tires were put through due to an outdated alignment machine. Just one of a bunch of complaints. PCNA pulled his dealer status.

Back when he was racing in the Canadian 944 Turbo Cup series , there were rumors of some teams having a second DME hidden behind the dash, that they would somehow switch
on after tech inspection ... the Spenard team apparently was one of them ... wouldn't be surprised if old Ludwig did the same ... lol
I was a flagger in those days and it was a real blast to marshall their races at Tremblant !
