OT car registartion question.
Anyone know if ts possible to get a new car to me saftied and registered with the ministry as safe, but then put plates and sticker on it later ?
reason I ask is I have to get a temp permit for the car to get it home, but then have 10 days go get it saftied, but I wont need the car for 3 months so figured I would just do the timing chains etc , then get the sticker when I'm ready. is this possible ?
I know I can get a second temp permit after but wondering if my way was feasible.
dealership wont let me take car unless ownership is transfered. Even if I flatbed it. ( I kind of understand that ) and the ONLY time I can get a temp permit is when I transfer the car. so if I'm getting a temp permit now , I was thinking I may as well get it saftied and then park it for 3 months while I work on it. Then slap on plates and a sticker when I need it.
make sense ?
PS I get all the insurance implications so I didn't even bring it up.

Edit. Yes you can register as FIT with no plates. But when you go to plate it you may need an e-test depending on the vehicle year and when your birthday is.
Then come back with insurance to get plates and a sticker.
If you do a plate and temp sticker now there is no savings as your real sticker cost will be back dated. So no savings this way.

What Adam said is correct. Just make sure you get the safety and get it registered as fit, all now. The safety is only good for 36 days, and if you don't have a safety when you register it (after the trip permit) they'll have to register it unfit, and you can't drive it then till you get another safety and then re-register as fit.

So what did you buy? Don't leave us in suspense.

also if you go to license it after it is in your name already, I believe they will require to see insurance but new purchase you can use a binder policy (not registered yet).

Wow. They look really similar in size. Nice looking DD. Is it stick?
What was your average or approxiomate price /km for the years you had the A6?
a 2014ish A4 is on my shortlist, as well as the Golf TSi, TDI, GTI..... I don't know if I need the Quattro, Haven't gotten stuck, spun, or ditched my FWD Jetta(s) in the past 15+ yrs of winter commuting....
