Central Ontario I can supply swepco products if needed.
I personally don't use swepco gear lube anymore, unless a customer demands it, but I swear by and stock 101 Moly grease.
Good for CV's, bearings and general use.

Personally the cheap stuff works for 901,915 and 930, these transmissions don't work well with synthetic IIHO. (Swepco is a dino oil IIRC)
I would rather you use cheap dino gear oil and CHANGE IT OFTEN then use expensive stuff and expect it to last 10-15+ years.
I like Kendal dino because I can get it, but I have no problem with crappy tire generic.
When I had cases of swepco, I would use 1 quart of swepco and top up with generic. I did this because if you had an oil leak it's easy to see the blue dye in swepco.
Blue = tranny leak, no blue = engine leak.
G50 up I use a synthetic, they use a different brake band (synchro ring) set-up.

What is a good gear lube for a 2001 986s 6 speed manual tranny?
I've owned it since 2009, never changed the tranny fluid. Had about 70K km when I bought it, now has 135K km...
Sometimes I have problems going from 2nd to 3rd on hard acceleration....

I'm old school, started aircooled VW about 1990 long before oil analisis was common. Longer if you count watching/helping my brother wrench on them since the mid-70's.
The Porsche transmission I have the most experience with is the 901/914, maybe 75-100, plus countless air cooled VW which are believe it or not are built like miniature 4 speed G50-up transmissions.
I've seen just about every fail point and neglect, failure to change oil regular is the number one. I don't need an oil analysis to see this, I've seen it parts in my hand.
Right now I use Wear Check, but I've only used the service for engines, mostly for IMS pre-qualification.
I have no problem with swepco, it's quality products, only bad for me is ease of delivery, convenience.
