Default I’m in shock

hello,
This is my first post here on renn. I’m still quite rattled that I pulled the trigger and bought the car I’ve loved since I was a kid. Earlier this week I bought a 911. A 2009 C4S. I’m giddy with excitement and about to puke because I own a car with such a high value. I’ve evolved with my cars so this isn’t an impulse. Acura to Wrx to Sti to M3 to GolfR. A bit of open road rally and lap days. I think I did well on my purchase and found as close to what I’d have spec’d If I was to purchase new. It’s a 997.2 manual, Sport Chrono, comfort package, PSE, Alcantara. It is a Montreal car, I did the PPI at Lauzon where the car was originally sold. I’m the 3rd owner. Lauzon was easy to deal with and I was happy with what I learned. The car does need work but acceptable. Pretty substantial cost up front but on the whole I think I did ok. It needs new suspension and serpentine along with all standard service of fluids etc. It has 95k so suspension life is understandably up. It received a new clutch and flywheel last year. Paint, fit and interior wear is above average imo. I’ll be trolling for info and doing my best to find answers without hassling you guys too much. I guess my first question is, what’s the best motor oil I should use?... I’m kidding, prob the most ranted topic on any motor forum. I’m very happy to be here, hoping to meet and make new friends. Iown a m f’n Porsche, BIG day for me
:-)

Congrats on the purchase! Great looking C4S!! Enjoy in good health. Lots of great insight / knowledge from the members of the board as far as all things Porsche and 911 related.

PS I can get you a great deal on a skid of oil if you like lol

Sick car, congrats. My car is also from MTL via Ontario and the US!

Let's do some lapping on June 24th at Shannonville! I'm already booked.

Very nice car and welcome to the forums. Your location says Muskoka, I'm in Huntsville and there's a couple other P car owners in Muskoka. Great driving roads in the area

Looks great! I saw that online while searching for a 997 and it sure caught my eye. ( I am currently looking at selling my 996 and getting a 997).

Enjoy!

Congrats on the new ride. My only advise is, try and drive the car more than the time you spend Renn.... haha This place is absolutely awesome, more info you will ever need on your new P. I have logged more hours on online looking up info than driving ... Love the guards red

Looks great!...welcome to Rennlist. If you ever get down Toronto way., drop into the Saturday GTG. From April or so on, all sorts of Porsches ( and people) show up.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Busy weekend assessing the car’s needs. Suspension is toast, will be pricing and comparing OEM with H&R springs vs Bilsteins. I suspect Bilsteins will be out of price range and likely more strut than I need. Serpentine, water pump pulleys and tensioners. Prob a kit avail on Renn. PSE actuators are shot, passenger side value is stuck closed. Tried to get it free with torch and tapping with a curved bar. No go :-/ might cut pipe to access valve and weld back once free. Bigger job than I had time for. Drivers side headlight leveller arm broken. Rotors and pads could be replaced but brakes are working well and I’ll wait on those for now. Sport mode doesn’t work and spoiler won’t raise. I read a thread about static from buffing shorting out cct. Sounds crazy but maybe that’s the problem. All fluids and spark plugs. I also noticed the vertical bank of leds on passenger side rear fogs don’t light up. Battery is 4 years old and will need replacing this year too. Windshield is new but was installed poorly. Not sure if it’s not OEM glass or the previous owner tried a DIY. Not something I’d try. Sooooo I think that’s it. No major surprises, most issues I knew about during PPI. For its age I think the car has held up well. Surprised to see all under panels intact. I drive it to Toronto tonight and have it stored in my brother in laws underground parking for now. It’ll take awhile to collect parts and I’d rather not drive it in the winter this year. I still need to sell my GolfR too. Any thoughts on the repairs are welcome. Thanks again for all the compliments on my car. No taking them back now that you know her condition lol. On Gaurd Red! <salute>
