OT: length of commute?
I’ve been offered a job in Kitchener and the door to door commute is 65 minutes from my place in Oakville. I spent today looking at Real Estate half way between Kitchener and Oakville, but it is a little too country for my liking. Just curious, what length of commute do you guys have? My wife works in Oakville, so moving to Kitchener isn’t an option right now...

Used to be a minute across the hall for many years unless I had client meetings which would mean a drive downtown TO from Oakville or a flight. Now it's 20 minutes with some traffic. Traffic sucks, love not having to deal with it.
Best combo I had was home or 12 min walk when I lived downtown.

Race Car
I've recently gone from a 20 min (each way commute) to a 1 hour there, 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs home at night. It sucks ***. Thankfully I'm driving a 911 daily.
We built our forever home 2 years ago and even though its appreciated to almost double its value since, there's no way we will sell (walkout backing onto protected green space and very deep lot with pond at end for hockey...yeah not selling).
My contract is only for 12-15 months so I'll take it like a man however, long term there's no way I'd do this commute (67 kms each way). And even if we decided to capitalize on the appreciation we would be buying high and uprooting the kids so its just not worth it.

10 kms for the last 18 years. It would take one hell of a promotion or raise for me to consider sitting in traffic for 2 hours a day doesn't matter what car i'd be driving.

Same here, 4kms from Leslieville to my office downtown. On a bad day it is 15mins to get in and maybe 20-25 to get home depending on what time I leave. Hard to get stressed even when traffic is crap since it is so close, I actually don't mind it as it lets my car get fully up to temp.
Work from home a couple times a week as well, in that case 5mins including coffee.

3km each way. I have a place near Guelph that's an hour commute from the house in the city. I'm happy to make the drive there for fun and relaxation, but I could not handle an hour each way as a daily commute.

Currently 20km takes me about 40-60mins depending on hours/traffic. If the 65min is with no traffic, you can expect some delays in there as well, unless its back roads. For me, I wouldn't mind a longer commute if its at a constant pace/against traffic, but 1 hr of stop and go is slowly killing me.

20 minutes through country roads. Used to be 1hr there and 1:10hr back when I worked in Brampton for almost 13 year. After 10 years the drive was started get really old and started looking for a job near by.
With the way construction is on the 401 near Kitchener, I don't think the commuting time is only an hour from Oakville. Maybe after they finish it later this year but not now. It's a gridlock on a good day and on a bad one, like yesterday when they closed the highway for hours only to follow by another jackknifed truck that re closed for a few more. The 401 is usually pretty slow between Guelph Line and Milton (Hwy#25) so might want to consider that too.
