the only reason why I remembered it was that dealer plate and horrible lines on track

- spotted driven poorly at track
- owner has weird, likely untrue story of it at Barrett Jackson
- price doesn't seem to line up.

Run. Away. Fast.

Lots of Porsches at Barrett Jackson right now. Prices so far have been weak.

I've checked BJ as soon as he replied and saw nothing too so I texted back asking for the lot #......heard nothing but static from the seller.

Heheh that was the intention but the BJ story ruined it.

Yes that would be my preferred route too as the 996 GT3s are, at least to me, more special than the 997s. Finding a good one that hasn't had to be pried out from a wall at a track is harder though. A far greater percentage of the 997 GT3s were street cars only. Most of the 996s have hit the wall hard in my experience. I'm looking for an occasional driver that I will never track but mostly a "more special" car to have in the garage than the 996TT (which I have absolutely no complaints about).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the 997.1 GT3 with the 3.6 is just as reliable as the 6GT3?
