Sad to watch. Smart move camera man made getting out and being safe behind that barrier. Even after his car got destroyed. Most would wanna check on their car. He stayed and tried to help warn others of the danger. That's the positive I took from this

He stopped, unbuckled and sat in the car awaiting cars passing. Lucky to be alive.
Having said that (Monday AM quarterbacking), there is apparently a German law mandating a stop and assist. Not sure if it applies at the N’Ring.
As discussed on the Racing board might have been safer to proceed past the wreck (slowly) and park beyond it.
But I admire his inspiration if not his decision.

They must install some digital/automatic signage to alert drivers as soon as possible if there are any accidents. Some sensors of impact on guard rails might be a way to automate this without relying on Marshals all the time.

That being said it recent years it appears to have become a complete cluster ****. I spoke to a buddy that laps his bike there pretty often and he was saying the number of flaggers has been severely reduced and they only appear on busy days. Some days are so busy with cars that there is literally a traffic jam formed by tourists

And apparently all the result of another Mezger coolant line failure.
Those of us with the Mezger motors really should be getting these things pinned, or better yet, welded. At bare minimum, flushing the coolant and running water wetter if you're tracking. I'm guilty of not doing either this past season and hate seeing stories like this - I couldn't imagine being responsible for this kind of carnage to other people's property & prized possessions, and potentially injuries / death.
Will be switching to water wetter in the spring before first track day. Sucks that Porsche never took the initiative to fix the cars with this issue even though it's been widely known and reported on since the 996 era cars.

+1...this being a 'public road' might add fire to the argument against Porsche...
I pin.. safe and happy feelings...

There's argument for either way (we've 'discussed' heavily over on 996tt board), prefer pinning for a few reasons, and I'm friends with some very skilled welders...
Sharkwerks pins, BBi welds... factory RSR's were threaded...many ways to skin the cat, just get the fittings secured
