Sharkwerks pins, BBi welds... factory RSR's were threaded...many ways to skin the cat, just get the fittings secured
Yea the discussion with welding cast parts and solid.. Pinning them with bolts is the cheapest/ easiest solution. You can get threaded NPT fittings but finding the right size tap is a pain. I did a job on a GT3 RS last summer, I ended up sending out the parts to a friends machine shop that made new barbed fittings and took care of tapping out the coolant manifolds. The downtime sucked though... The pinning solution is a days worth of work.

Threaded is really the slickest way of doing it!
I pin them as it's cost effective (and perfectly effective in general), 'guaranteed' not to leak/pin holes after install, and can replace fittings as needed with age...threaded is next level, from the RSR gods

the fittings should be fine for the life of the car the coolant hoses on the other hand aren't especially if tracked.

Just in case of ever any external corrosion or mechanical damage... +1 on hoses, waterpump + 2 large side transfer hoses are the common on Mezger

I will be pulling my engine out this winter. Where is a good place to send the plates to be pinned or welded?

Because a turbo might drop its coolant? I thought PCA required the coolant lines to be pinned for track days?

If your talking about just getting in an accident, then you'd be safer at the track then the 401....

A little different since nurb crash wasnt a race
But Check this out at the PCA 2015 race at road america.

I was there when it happened, was waiting for my race to start. The crashes were brutal

To give you an idea of the speed we get at kink corner

My lowest speed is usually 185 kmh and when i have it perfectly, lowest speed is 195 kmh.

Pinning is a must on a gt3

I also recommend running water instead of coolant

Im not talking about the Ring or what Seb is doing but rather more like the PCA track days. The only time I have seen problems is on very cold mornings (like near 0) where guys push their cars too early and spin on a cold track. But otherwise its a well run event and I feel safer there then driving the 401 with all the distracted morons tooling around
