lol free. Everyone pays now instead of just the drivers. The shops doing the doing the "free" test arnt doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. The Government is still paying them.

Its a ridiculous program because most of the cars they test will pass and the cars that cant pass because they are too old pre 1988 don't need to do it.

It was a huge revenue generator for the province. They need to just scrap this program.

I'm sure people don't think the shops are doing it as charity work for the environment. Point being is you don't have to pay out of pocket at time of test. Of course the government must be reimbursing the shops and who pays the government, the taxpayer does. Also bet the proportion of my tax payments that is allocated to the test is negligible compared to what the out of pocket expense was. You're right though, I anticipate passing with flying colours as I would think a 2011 car should have no issue.

Government illegally made millions off this program as it was approved on the grounds it would be revenue neutral and was discovered by the auditor general.. That is what is funding it now.

Amen to that. It is a total cash grab and by no means free (our tax dollars hard at work).

The next big joke is going to be the elimination of val tag stickers. The MTO says it's to help customers but we all know they will save a ton of cash in sticker production and they will keep charging the public $120 if not more, more profits for the government. They have also told us to keep this program quiet and not tell the public, LOL.
