I didn't realize that, in that case, with no option to trickle charge I'd do as the OP is doing just making sure to get the engine hot before shutting it down. The battery will lose about 5% of it's charge monthly so unless there's a draw it's not going to be an issue over the winter but the concern I'd have is the current draw of all the microsystems the battery has to maintain.

Why not connect a battery maintainer to a power bank?

I've always wondered whether this would work. My other car is parked underground with no plug but stays charged if I drive it 10 miles or so every 4 weeks. Even with no parasitic drain it'll loose most of it's power in around 3 months.

I've used this $10 solution on my cars and boats for years when I had no access to a plug and had to park UG. Charge battery fully before putting the car away turn the dial to the left and you are done. No driving, 10 min starts, laps in the parking garage etc. Works like a charm and great extra security in summer months as well. Just enough juice to lock and unlock but will not start if you attempt to.

there is a cable inside the fender liner which enables you to open the frunk.

I have used the quick disconnects as well on cars and as long as the vehicle does not need constant power to recall the ecu settings and radio codes it works well. I suggest removing the dial completely and taking it with you as a security feature as car will not start without it.

Unless they have a pair of vice grips.

I bet your can wedge the cable under the disconnected end and fire up the car.
