Local Porsche dealer damaged my car during delivery...
Hi everyone
I'm posting this anonymously as I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer but I would appreciate any suggestions/feedback that the community has
I purchased a CPO 991 from a local P Car dealer (I've had 3 previous P Car's)
Prior to delivery I noticed some door dings - one was quite concerning as it was right in the crease of the wheel arch. I pointed this out and was assured that it could be removed without the need for repainting. I trusted what I was told so I went ahead with the purchase.
Delivery day finally rolled around and I arrived to see the car waiting for me in the pickup bay. Unfortunately none of the door dings were removed. I pointed this out and that I was not happy with it and they promised that they would have me back in to have them fixed. We documented this on the contract.
While we were sitting in the dealership signing the paperwork one of their lot attendants needed to move my car. When we returned to the car, my drivers side leather seat was torn in a few areas. Whomever moved my car must have had something sharp on his/her belt because you can see it happened both when he/she entered and exited the vehicle. I was completely speechless, as was my salesperson.
I have severe OCD when it comes to dings, dents, scratches, damage, etc.
I requested my cheque to be returned and the deal cancelled.
The manager came out and inspected the car and was also furious. They promised me that they would replace everything with brand new Porsche parts. I requested that they do so, and I explained that I would return in the summer to take delivery (I was picking up in the winter on a very rare sunny day), and I would like my cheque returned in the meantime.
They would not let me cancel the deal but promised me on their very well known reputation that it would be done to my 100% satisfaction when I bring the car back. We amended the sales agreement to read as such.
Fast forward to Thursday...
After some difficulty in getting an appointment to bring the car in, they finally scheduled me. Prior to my appointment, my salesperson emailed me to say that they would have a leather specialist inspect the leather and determine how to proceed. I was confused so I immediately called him and stated that it was a simple replacement not an inspection to determine how to proceed. Our contract was clear. He said he wasn't in the dealership so he couldn't check our contract but if they deemed a repair would be sufficient then that is what they would do.
When I arrived, the service receptionist stated that the leather repair guy was there and waiting to start. I again was speechless. I said there will be NO repairs. We agreed in writing to a replacement. I then met with their dent guy who looked at the dent on the wheel arch and said that he could not remove it and that a body shop would need to repair it
Neither my salesperson or the pre-owned manager were in so I escalated to the GM.
I'm now waiting for a call back...
I couldn't sleep all night because of the stress this has caused
At this point I'm looking for opinions on how you would proceed and what you would expect the dealer to do

If this happened as you say it did, you should tell everyone the name of the dealer.

Sorry to hear about your buying experience especially when buying a Porsche.
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if you're buying a Lexus or a Ferrari, horrible customer service is common and the only thing you can do is protect yourself.
Personally, I wouldn't have done any deal or signed any document until all of those issues were fixed. Never give a dealership the benefit of the doubt regardless of writing. Best of luck to you

I don’t believe that they had any legal right to tell you that you couldn’t cancel the deal at the time it sounds like they did. My understanding is that you had every right to cancel the deal.
Did they give you anything in writing that they would not cancel it?
Myself, I’d accept if they replaced everything with new OEM parts including panels that you get to keep the old ones to show they were replaced for dings not a wreck.

Does your amended sales agreement specifically say that they will replace the seat? If you left them some latitude they will obviously take the cheapest route.
And i understand the ocd thing but get some sleep, its just a car!!

Do yourself a favor and out the dealership now. What you've explained is unacceptable and (unfortunately) you should have never signed that contract.
Social media and wide spread attention is your friend.
Have you spoken with your lawyer?
Money back would be a minimum..

you took delivery of the car last winter and brought it in in the last few days after having difficulty booking an appointment? Bro sorry but you are screwed and they knew and know it. Good luck months later getting this resolved to your satisfaction. Best bet would be let them repair the seat and paint the damaged areas, get it inspected before taking delivery, and move on with your life, if done correctly you shouldn't notice. Unfortunately you fell for their tactics, so you can blame them and blame yourself. Not trying to be insensitive just stating facts. Any bashing on a deal for a used car will probably not get you anywhere. just get it fixed and enjoy. Sorry you relied on the stealership to act honestly.

Contacting Porsche Canada could help too. I can't imagine the dealership wants Head Office hearing about this. I am however confused by the timelines here...

Please don't tell me you work in Saudi and have been out of the country till now........I hope I am wrong with all my assumptions for your sake but this should have been remedied in April at the latest.
Oh BTW you can pay the bank $8 and get a cheque cancelled anytime you want......
