Then they like you more than me. Did mine over the summer. Maybe it's a different crystal? You went to the Rolex main office on St.Clair?

Like I said, I was surprised when I read that. Yes, RSC on St Clair. Mine is a Sub, so maybe a cheaper crystal? They didn’t change it, so in the end it didn’t matter

Cartier's flat repair price is very good. A few years back I was in Miami and when I took the Cartier out of the safe in the hotel after not wearing for a few days, I went to wind it and the crown came off in my hand. I took it to Miami Cartier and when I showed it to the repair guy, he almost cried. I took it to yorkville and they fixed it for the flat fee (which was only about $300 back then).

My Son just picked up a Sub from Raffi in Kitchener this morning...not bad for a 17 year old!

We have Cartier and they have flat pricing for service including polishing and price does not go up if more repairs are required. One of the things I like about Cartier.
if the rolex needs repair, then additional costs will be incurred re parts+labour on top of the standard servicing fee. the watch service price includes a complete polish of the watch itself.

i believe acrylic crystal replacement is included in the servicing cost (less expensive crystal, more prone to scratches)... if your watch is sapphire crystal, that will normally cost extra as it's a more expensive crystal (pretty much scratch proof but can chip, my vintage dj16234 has a tiny, tiny chip in the crystal).

my brother just got back his vintage dj16014 after getting it serviced from la difference (right before the price increase), an almost 40 year watch looks close to brand new. they did swap out the acrylic crystal i believe as the old one was heavily scratched. 600$ i believe all in (including minor repair + parts)

Try an indie. Several well rated ex Rolex guys around. Last time I had my '63 black face Oyster Perpetual Explorer serviced 4 years ago tab was $400. St. Clair wanted $800. Looking for a pre ceramic, no post hole, blue face Sub M if anybody has one.

An indie is fine for vintage pieces as long as they can still get the parts. Modern pieces will all need to be serviced by Rolex or Rolex AD that facilitates this service.

Very nice, congrats.

I only kept the black dial version for a couple weeks last winter. I think the pcl's killed it for me.

I must not be as sophisticated as you guys because it looks like a regular wrist watch to me. I don't see anything extraordinary about it.

I feel the same way about the Daytona. It's one of those watches where you either love it or hate it.

I don' hhate it, just never understood the hype unless it was the original Paul Newman. Not having a date also kills it for me too. Still a great piece though. Definitely like the panda over the all black one.

I never liked it until the ceramic dial came out. Now I love it...and it feels great on the wrist. It is a great compliment to my 16610 Sub.
