Default Looking for Gen 1 (987.2) Spyder...

Hey guys - starting to looking at getting back into a Gen 1 (987.2) Spyder. As some of you may be aware I came close to picking up a Rennlister's pristine Gen 2 (981), and this still may be an option, but the Gen 1's still have appeal as the ultimate, light-weight, modern Porsche. And... I love the top.

My previous Spyder was white over black but would entertain other colours as well.

Must haves? MT and LWBS.

If you know of anything please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Especially at literally less than half the price of a used 981 Spyder! There was a 6000km example with 6spd, buckets and two tone classic red/black interior sold by World Fine Cars a couple months ago for low 60's within 24 hours of listing it online.

The manual 987 spyders with buckets sell almost instantly, as they should - the best bargain in the Porsche new / used market. Would love to add one beside my Turbo.

Prices seem to have moved on a bit. Last three on Bring a Trailer went for $61,000 USD.

I bid the first two to 60, the last to 61. Add buyers premium, currency translation, duty, taxes and transpo, makes an expensive car.

P Oakville had a black one that took a deposit while I was out test driving it. Offered the buyer $1k to walk away.

Still looking .

With all the P-car price madness I think people have finally woken up to what a unique and rare driving experience the Spyder is. I can imagine these will be like 911 and 964 Speedsters in 10-15 years...

The 981 Spyder though a nice car just isn't and long-term cool and desirable IMO.

Well, I love mine, but I'd like the previous version too. It's a little more raw and analog, kinda like comparing 997.2 gt3rs to 991. 991 faster, more comfortable, but not as granular.

I had two for a year including the riviera blue I imported. Sold the second one this spring. I don't know what you mean 'above list'.

By "I love mine" I thought you meant you currently had one.

Above list i.e. MSRP...

Stupid auto trader was supposed to email me when they came up.

I offered the buyer $10k to walk away from the deal. Ended up over paying for the latest BaT car. Sigh.....

That black 987.2 Spyder at WFC this past week is an odd one - they had it a couple months ago, and it sold within a day (I inquired the day after it was posted to Autotrader and it was gone).

A few weeks later, a bunch of us met the new owner & his pooch @ Mosport.

Seems the car ended up back in WFC's hands and has now been sold again (in less than a day). Odd story for such a perfectly spec'd low mileage 6 speed bucket seat spyder...

Yes, that was me that picked it up on the 9th of September.
Kinda curious why he returned it, but very happy to own such a unique vehicle.
