No, that's not how that clutch works. It's the seam as what you find on most VW/Audis. When the engine stops, the clutch lets the alternator spin a fraction of a second longer and this reduces the stress on the crankshaft. That's is basically it. Might help smoothing out the combustion pulse vibration on the serpentine belt but that's just my theory.
