Default Aftermarket Windshield Replacement.

Anybody have experience with windshield replacement on there 997 911 by Speedy Auto Glass or similar Glass Company.
Porsche dealer quoted all in with out Taxes $1650.00 Speedy quoted $769.00 for there best package with lifetime warranty or $555.00 for basic windshield replacement. both include Rain Sensor with GPS Antenna Radio Antenna but cheaper one moulding is extra if it needs replaced.
Not going the insurance route.
Thats a huge difference in price.

Is there glass classed as OEM ? did you ask the dealer why they are twice the price.....

If Speedy supplies OEM glass and identical to what's being removed then why not ......

For a 991 I was told $1225 for the glass and $325 for the install. Expensive glass from Porsche. I haven't done it because I know as soon as I do I'll get another rock hit.

I can get a windshield replaced in an F150 for $175.

I would ask if I can watch them install whoever you choose. Lots of bad stuff happens when windows are changed. be sure to photograph dash and hood and around windshield before you take it in. Nowadays cheap Chinese glass is pretty good. Porsche uses Securit on modern cars.

Does the seal not need to be replaced as well?

dont do it! I'm on my 4th Windshield, I had 1 non-oem and it was the worst!
it chipped easy and was wavy and all I saved for $400. went back to OEM from Porsche.

Spend the Extra and get the one from the Dealer, you can really tell the difference in Quality

the Seal does not need to be replaced unless damaged, I have had mine reused 4 times

Any idea if the dealer can do this while you wait?
My 996TT now has a chip in it?
