yes. very true. if your crank and/or IMS is done, add a cool 5-7k ontop of that. Scored cylinders doesn't usually take out those components though.

The instance may be low but the severity is extreme and there is just so much historical unknown with a used vehicle.
I would argue scored cylinders happens more often than bad IMSB's.

but with bore scoring, your internals are usually in decent shape that they can be reused (after being measured and ultrasonic cleaned) An IMSB failure will take out a lot more internals than scored cylinders.

yes but both require an engine rebuild/ replacement , which is beyond the average budget

bout the same as buying a 964 or 911 back a say 5 years ago at 25k and then needing to rebuilt the motor. give it a few more years and I think we see the 996's price still go up.

I hope you get photos or print out of the cylinder wall for that price; otherwise, how can you be sure that they actually check it.

Wow. I would think independents would do better. But maybe that's the going rate.

I asked 2 independent and pricing was almost as much. One was 100 less but location not as convenient as seller is downtown.

From reading they are fairly thorough so worth the money i think

And well worth it know about the bores. You do want pics though for historical reference.

Yeah baby yeah.

My budget is 25k but sure, I look at high mile turbos or 997.2.

How much are those trouble free P cars anyway?
