Can anyone here recommend an entry certification center in NZ. I was told by an importer in NZ which I am dealing with that I would need to apply for a LHD permit. Since I cannot bring the vehicle in under the SIVS scheme I would need to prove the car is a collector car in LHD form. I'm "assuming" this should be easy, but we shall see. I posted a link on the 997.2 RS forums which can be seen here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...ector-car.html

Lastly, has anyone on here imported a LHD vehicle into NZ? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Once through customs speak to Fast Track Compliance in Penrose, Macca & myself have imported cars from the UK and used them, speak to Clint. For used cars generally they remove some interior trim to check seatbelts, airbags etc, however they have a "trimless option" where they don't do this, however it costs a little extra, I used them for my Cayman GT4 and they were good.

That sounds promising. There were only 8 997.2 RS variants sold in NZ according to Porsche. A low number if you ask me. I will make sure to send them a boat load of proof. Thanks!

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation. I will contact Clint as the car has an aftermarket rollcage, catted headers, RSS control arms and CAE shifter. Not sure I need to put in the stock components before bringing it i? The headers have cats and the car came with a cage in NZ anyways. The shifter is not a safety issue.

I remember speaking to Macca loooong time ago and he mentioned it should not be an issue, but when you speak to the agents, their lack of knowledge and eagerness to help will make anyone nervous.

Considering you are going through compliance anyway I would leave the mods in, in case any need certification. Worst case, they could be re installed then complied, unlikely I would guess. Keep us updated

Got it, thank you. Will keep everyone updated. Once the car and myself are in NZ, it would be great to get together and do one of these drives I keep hearing about . Happy Holidays!!

Hi gents, i dont currently have a Porsche but I'm looking at picking up a 991.2. I did have a FD RX7 with 993 headlights though!

I saw Porsche club NZ, is that the main car club that people join up to?

Most of us here are pcnz members, but not all. If you are wanting to track maybe your local car club might be good too?

Well as promised i did pick up that 991.2 last week. It's working out to be a brilliant car so far and i spent the weekend driving to the coromandel, i doubt i was anywhere close to its traction limits despite the wet roads, what a car!

Its a C4S with PCCB, 18 way sports seats, SPASM, sports chrono, sports exhaust, carbon trim and yellow deviated stitching.

Its a UK import so no NZ maps, found a mob in Auckland that claim to do it but Giltrap were stating that changing to NZ maps is likely to brick the PCM?

Hi Oriphinz, welcome, saw this posted on RSG FB. I brought in a GT4 from the UK a couple of years ago, did NZ Maps etc via Giltraps, cost around 1k from memory. May see you out on track soon. Cheers, Pel

Kia Ora folks, quick question do NZ Porsche drivers get their parts from? I am looking for a new exhaust and steering wheel but only found O/S options, does everything need to be sourced this way?

Hi welcome. yes, unfortunately it does. WEll, unless you like to pay approx 3 x what you should for your bits.. Then by all means go local!

Favourite haunts include design911, pelican parts, fcpeuro, rosepassion, maybe suncoast porsche parts.
