My mate had the V10 diesel TDI in his Taureq. A VAG small truck motor I believe. I don't know about any petrol V10

Pretty sure there was no petrol v10 from VW. Have decided to replace injectors in VX cruiser & fit 3 inch exhaust system. Have already removed EGR. Everything else has too little load-carrying capacity & not sure I can live without triple diff locks. Plus, with 330 tkm, I don't really care too much about the odd bruise. Modern replacement is $100k plus, & not sure anything else measures up - can think of more exciting things to do with that many fun coupons. Pity you can't get a 'cruiser with a v12 Audi diesel transplant!
Cheers - D

Yes, currently on hols, so have a small window for the pick up which is the weekend after next, and that I think is the weekend before the road trip.
The SC is out of WOF, filthy dirty and covered in paint so not a lot of second choices.

That's great news Dave. I was just wondering the other day how it was going. You must be looking forward to going for a squirt in it.

What's the Whakatane trip?

Sure am, with great anticipation. Most of the things I wanted done on it can now happen like that steel non S front bumper is in place and will get some PORSCHE side decals, bumper strips etc to finish it off. Collected a few interior trim parts along the way to finish that off too, chrome window winder cranks, genuine basketweave dash trim etc. Also got lucky with some original Marchal yellow bulb spot lights which I might have a play with, mounted through the front grills. Maybe.
The Whakatane trip is the first leg (the only part I am doing) of a multi weekend road trip by some of the hard core road warriors. Would have done the whole thing but never been busier at work and at home recently (but oddly writing this from a balcony in Waikiki so go figure.....)

A bit off topic, however - took my landcruiser 4.2 diesel 80 series to Kaiapoi Repowers.
New injectors, 3 inch mandrel bent pipe, turbo & repaired injector pump + a few sundry items followed by dyno tuning.
Have gone from max 135 rwhp at 3263 rpm to 195 rwhp at 3505 rpm
max torque 304 nm at 2840 to 513 nm at 2115 rpm
motive force 3.5 KN at 2779 rpm to 5.9 KN at 2115.
Handbook claims 163 hp (flywheel). 3xy nm torque
Transformation is night & day - pretty happy

And hopefully the ride height as well. I've never seen a road car so close to dragging its undercarriage over every bump.

+1 from NZ
Live within 10mins of Steve's workshop in Pirongia - he's already been busy on my '03 996 C2 manual acquired about 8 weeks ago, 64,000kms when bought, now 66,000...

The only problem is I can't stop driving it, especially now with. the H&R blue lowering springs and Bilstein B8s!. (Pic is before suspension work)
