Same here. Design 911 are quick and reasonably priced.

This made me chuckle. Its a very confusing time for me. They all seem to push different buttons, cost money to run, surprise and disappoint in different ways. I think your analogy is in fact quite a good one...;-)

It will be interesting to see which car ends up holding your attention for any length of time. I would have thought you were a Singer-phile at heart, agonising over each detail, however that and track work don't mix.

I've brought tyres from tire rack in the USA. Massive range. They arrive within a week. Get a quote for freight and factor in possible $80 customs fee plus GST on tyres and freight.

The tyres I bought from tire rack were michelins. Some brands they're not permitted to export (eg Toyo) due to distributor territory rules. I once received an Aussie's order (and wrong size) instead of mine. They said keep them and they reshipped my order FOC. Sold them on TM for a tidy little profit

Update for Michael. The rebuild is stalled waiting on parts so I had a big garage clean up in pre build preparation.

All of the existing parts have been cleaned and measured so when the parts arrive it will be like an operating theatre as it all goes back together with clean room cleanliness and precision.

Btw I rebuilt my power steering pump. It's the same kit for a 944 if you need help one day.

Thanks John, very kind of you to offer! If I have any problems I'll send it straight to you

Good to hear the pistons etc measure well and I'll look forward to more updates when the parts arrive.

PS Looking at that second photo, have you ever considered black wheels for Herman?

Tried most combinations e.g. Black D90 Frankenstein wheels. Fuchs are the long term wheels although it will be interesting to see how well they go with a normal tail.

Track day yesterday at Taupo with Playdays. Very nice weather. GT4 went great. Actually superb. Getting rid of those old tyres made a difference. Car will do a high 1.39 there.

Good stuff. Will there be a Macca review of the GT4?

Cold enough for you this morning?

4C in Kohi when I went to the airport this morning at 4:30. I reckon Macca would have been in bed until midday.

Macca what's your conclusion on modern turbo engines now having sampled a few? Especially the off throttle response that I mentioned a while back.
