John. Are those NZ register new numbers or total import numbers?

Eric Waanders tells me very hard to understand total import numbers as often first time VIN credentials completed incorrectly (i.e. "1992 Carrera" etc). As example he showed me 175 x 993 originally sold new in NZ between 1994-1998 and as EMD did the entry COC and docs the cars are accurate. The VTNZ figures show another 55 imports between 1998 and 2011 but we know the number is definitely higher probably more like 100 units.

Basically new car import regos are the most accurate followed by correctly completed import rego.

For Australia its hard to know for 964 as they did not get the imports from Japan/UK/Singapore & HK we did which probably accounts for over 60% of the 964 stock in NZ. There market is alot larger.

For example in Australia they have 181 x 996 GT3/Rs sold new. Compare that to 30 x 996 GT3/RS for NZ or alternatively 261 x 997 GT3/RS vs NZ total of 42. Of course it depends on the year and economics (for example 991 gen GT3 is around 80 units and RS looks like it will be 30 for a total of 110 units because Porsche are strangling RHD production these days). Generally youcan multiply NZ new volumes by 4-6x dependent on model.

For 964 from 1989 to 1993 Australia new I would suggest around 700 units of all variants...
