I was shot at hauling my race car back from VIR this past weekend

You should definitely report it to the police. If you have not cleaned out your truck, take it down to your local police department to see if they can recover any bullet fragments.

sorry, didn't have the time to read the whole thread, but absolutely call and report it. nowadays there are a million traffic cams. if you have a description, time and place they should be able to hunt this c*nt down. even if you were a complete azzhat and cut him off, there is no justification. plain and simple. glad they were bad shots....

I in the camp of report it. I spent 8.5 years in Gainesville and drove back and forth along I-75 way way too many times to count. BecauseFlorida, I had what felt like dozens of weird encounters, though I was never shot at.

Definitely report the indecent...
Could it have been a pellet gun? There was a news story just the other day, some ***** in that general area of town was shooting out parked car windows with a pellet gun. Police are looking for him....

Gross generalizations are just that. Don't take offense to something that doesn't apply to you.

You are correct, I should not have included the second sentence. I still take umbrage to the statement.

As the OP, I wanted to update this thread and thank everyone for their contribution.
1. Yesterday, I did report this incident to CMPD and met with the officers near the location of the incident. Long story short, w/o a plate ID, they can’t do much to find this car. Traffic cams on the highway are not theirs (they are NCDOT) and not HD so they can’t get a plate ID from them. CMPD didn’t have any traffic cams along the perps getaway route on Wilkinson Blvd. They did state the charge is Assault w/a Deadly Weapon being they fired it into an occupied vehicle.
2. These were not rednecks. Charlotte is the largest urban area between Atlanta and DC.
3. I’ve got the claim going on the PCar for a new rear quarter glass. (I keep a policy on the car being I sometimes drive it between my storage facility, home and my mechanic's shop). It’s being ordered from Germany. Being it’s all safety glass, I’ve got $0 deductible and it’s a no fault issue so no change of rates as a result of this claim. This also gives me the opportunity to have my windshield replaced as I took a rock at RA several years ago that damaged the windshield and I’ve been too lazy to get taken care of.
4. I’ve included the grainy photo I took out of my truck which I’ve blown up just a little. My best guess is it’s a new Honda Civic SI or maybe a Ford Focus ST. These newer hot hatches all look pretty similar from the rear I’ve found.

Three Wheelin'
two things:
ncdot might not be able to get you a plate but a better pic of the car to determine model and color or even a slightly better pic of the car to be used below:
there are ways to improve an image. here are some sample people you can send it to and see if they can help (explain your situation):
tell them what camera/settings etc where used to capture the pic as it might help:
