Default New PB @ Thunderbolt Code Brown @ End

I'm chasing a former PCA "I" Class Champion to a new PB followed by a Code Brown after a Cayman blows a radiator hose.

It looks like you touched his door? It is possible?

If I can say something, i dont like your hands position.

Its too much 11-1 from my point of view. You keep on moving your hands. Stay 9-3 and hold them there!

You cant have "fast hands" like that with a position like that.

My 2 cents.

It was like magnets with opposing energies that kept you apart. Nice driving and crash avoidance.

Yikes that was close. I would have got the hell outta there instead of sitting in the grass waiting for someone else to come slide into you.

Holy smokes. And then the white Boxster spins. Geez.

Bill you're losing a bunch of time hesitating in the last corner. stay in the throttle. The car will stick. Makes a real difference. Also IMO you're over slowing into 5 just to get down two gears...only to upshift again at track out. In a Cup with all the power up at 8000+ rpm that's a decent bet. In your car with the power band it has it's not. Go down to 3rd and don't slow quite as much. Makes a real difference in the GT4 in that segment. Also IMO over braking for 6.

Dave, that's non-racer talk... if you are over slowing, dont over slow, its that simple. has NOTHING to do with a proper gear change to get the car out of that turn with 2nd gear and maximize hp on the exit. (plus the control benefits we all talked about). yes, thats what you do.. you up shift on track out.... its what we do when we maximize forces to the rears. and dont worry about instability. the car has PLENTY of grip to use 2nd on the exit with the wheels pointed straight. over braking is an entirely different discussion and could be a possibility for both turns, but not due to proper downshifts.

you make an error in your assessment of his HP characteristics too. just because a cup car has its peak power at 8k rpm, doesnt mean you dont downshift a cayman. the cayman and other 911s have a power curve that is maximized from 6 to 8K. you keep the RPM here for max acceleration. anything in the 5k or even 4kRPM range (where you would be in 3rd) is a HUGE loss of power (near 50hp) and thus acceleration
currently, Bill is at 5000rpm at 51mph. If he didnt overslow, he could be at least 10 to 15% faster and the RPMs would stilll be just under 6k when he goes WOT on the exit with wheels straight. this is 3+ seconds of 50 to 100 hp more! i would also suggest not to short shift out of 2nd , 3 turns later.

I was thinking about you during the race this weekend when my transmission started to get hot, i went through 2 turns in a battle just like your turn 5 at NJMP . i did no other changes but that taller gear , which was very similar in proportions of RPM. lost near 1 second that lap.

There seemed to be minor damage to his RF door, none to my bodywork. It looked like my LF wheel may have hit him.
