I have posted this in the Boxster forum, but I think it will probably receive more experienced eyes here:
Just back from a 2 day event at Mont Tremblant, fantastic weather and a huge amount of fun! Car (2004 Boxster S) ran well with no problems except: brakes...
At my last event in May, I noticed that when my brakes got really hot, say after 3 or 4 laps, I would get major vibration through the steering wheel. The rotors were Meyles all around. I changed the front rotors for some Zimmermanns, after having cleaned and sanded the hubs. I then seasoned them according to Hoyle. I also installed the GT3 air ducts. I have received some new pads (EBC Yellowstuff) but didn't have time to bed them for this event so I ran with my Redstuff pads which still had lots of legs. Unfortunately, the shimmy persisted. I will be installing the Yellowstuff pads in the next day or so.
Is it possible/usual for a brake pad to cause this juddering problem? The brakes are smooth as silk when they are cool.

I don't think so. Had this problem with my old rotors so I have just installed these new Zimmermanns last week. Conditioned them according to the book. Same problem.

It's pad transfer. It looks the Red Stuff pads are really a street pad. Also, make sure when you come off the track and stop, DO NOT hold your foot on the brake. That is an easy way to get lots of transfer.

Recent thread on this.....not to be harsh but EBC pads suck for the track. You need a real track pad, of which there are many.

As others have said, you're having transfer layer issues because you're overheating the pads. You're barking up the wrong tree with EBC's for track use. They just aren't up to the task.

Get yourself some Ferodo DS1.11 and call it a day:

Front Ferodo DS1.11 for '04 Boxster S

Rear Ferodo DS1.11 for '04 Boxster S

We have hundreds of 991 GT3 and 981 GT4 owners running these right now.

One thing to be aware of, you need to manage your pads and discs. We did a video a few years back on swapping between street and race pads. It goes into detail about how to manage pads and discs to prevent judder.

these are all non issues if you bed the pad correctly.

what did you do to "condition" the rotors?

when they get hot and have major vibration, that can be warping , especially if you have ever come into the pits when hot and had to stop on a hill or behind someone with your foot on the brake for a little bit.
crappy rotors will do this pretty easily.

follow my bed in process and you will never have an issue again

ive used EBC orange pads on the track and they work fine . no issues when bedded properly, on a car that is a lot heavier and more power.

Glad you've done well with them....including myself I know of a number of people who've tried them on track, in Porsches and other cars, and ended up tossing them.

Lots of more viable options out there....

Been doing the race/street game for a long long time. i have developed a way to bed rotors and pads that doesnt cause squealing. never had one that made a peep. street or track, on single piston, to 4 piston calipers, stock rotors, drilled , slotted and 2 piece. i agree, there is even more than a "number" of squeakers out there, but they are not using my bedding technique. PM me if you want the process. its not porsche, ford, aston martin's problem.. its a basic bedding technique. getting the rotors and pads familar with each other and its not going to work with anything ive heard here on the list or on the brake sites.
again, 20 years speaking hear... no noise.. arent you a bit curious?

by the way, thats now i got my EBCs for my performance street car.. someone bought two sets, all the "listers" said they made noise, no one wanted them.. i bought them for 100bucks. quiet as a mouse....... my way , not theirs or folks that you have talked too.. trust me, it will work for you too.
