Default Spa DE

Next weekend I'll be driving SPA at a Porsche Club HPDE event. This will be my first time at Spa and first European DE. Any tips on European DE differences would be appreciated. I've heard they run with the windows up. How are point bys indicated?

I'm considering track insurance for the event. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

If this is your first time on Spa, you'll be in for a real treat! It's by far and away my fist favorite track in the entire world.

Yes, windows up. Pay attention in the drivers meeting regarding passing signals. Typically in Europe it's the same as US freeway driving - you signal your own cars intention. In other words, if you see a faster car in your mirrors, you signal to the side you intend to stay on.

After spending last summer in Europe, I'm convinced the tracks & clubs in the US do it all wrong. Only at Barber's Porsche Sport Driving School do they mandate windows up. But then they got the signaling wrong.

Completely different. Couldn't be more different. His photo shows clear blue skies. I have no idea where that race track is located.

SPA is amazing, the wife and I each did a session when doing euro delivery on her 2016 M3. The last 1/3rd of the track is crazy fast. The compression through Eau Rouge is a pretty cool feeling too. Make sure you close out your 'tab' at the gas pumps on location as I don't think they automatically shut off when done pumping.

Joris is the local to Spa. I can't remember his screen name here. I think he's at Spa this weekend for a race.
