Default Bourdais crash at Indy

Wow That was a big one. Supposedly being readied for surgery on his Pelvis. Could have been much worse, wonder if Hans saved his life... Unbelievable that Hayden is worse off from a bicycle accident, bad week for motorsports, wishing them both the best!!

Agree. Hoping for the best for both Nicky and Seb. Seb's shunt was HARD!

Terrible. He's got a long recovery ahead. Wishing him the best.

Brutal, but amazing that he's relatively okay.

Anyone else notice how long his front right wheel kept spinning? Odd thing to notice, but those bearings!

He was on track for P1 almost a full mph ahead! Really frightening crash to watch. He is a very accomplished driver and I hope he is able to come back after this.

Oh my! That was brutal. On second he is fine, the next not so fine. You can actually see the ratcheting up in the intensity of the response as they realized how serious this was.

Not only the HANS, but that SAFER barrier played a role too. 25 years ago that would have been HANSless into concrete.

Just the OP's pic made me cringe.

I'll bet that got the attention of those F1 folks.

Anyone else notice how ABC waited a long time before showing a replay...and then only once?

If you've ever crashed, you know how it seems to happen in s l o w m o t i o n. I'll bet Seb barely had time to say "Oh, ****." He made one correction to gather the rear end...then hit the wall...bang, bang. I'm sure there's an in-car video we haven't seen yet.

Ironically it was that correction that straightened the car out to hit the wall head on--he would've hit it rear first and MAYBE the results wouldn't have been so bad......of course, in hindsight, who's going to tell him not to try to save the car?

At any rate, do hope he recovers--hips are a tough deal but he's young (unlike yours truly )......

On a lighter note, great to see 'Nando do 230--we'll see today....I'll arrive at the Glen just in time to watch!

I don't thank they should be racing open cockpit cars in ovals.
