Road and Track story here: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...9-nurburgring/. Not sure this is a "production car" but it is fast.

My brother works for those guys. Battery guru. That's about all he can tell me. He started back when GM was doing R&D at Los Alamos

Three Wheelin'
I know I should, but I just don't care. Wonder if it can do more than one lap before it needs a recharge?
I tried to watch the coverage of the ePrix of Monaco and couldn't believe that all those ex-F1 drivers are even willing to participate. What a snooze fest.
I'm a Gen X. Maybe the next generation, or the one after that (?) will like this stuff.

I guess I'm of a later generation, but I agree that I'm a lot more interested in electric cars for transportation than for racing. Having said that, I will absolutely watch the video of this lap when it comes out.

Formula E seems to be relying on crash carnage for ratings, and they deliberately run on street circuits that are different from the F1 circuits to prevent comparison to F1 (as at Monaco, where they use very little of the F1 course).

I tried to watch one or two races last year and the "pit stop" was what killed it for me. Switching cars is not a pit stop. If they can't go a race distance without swapping cars its not a race car.

It should be a pit stop should be for battery replacement or charge, at least it would be the equivalent of a fuel stop.

Unfortunately it is our future. Autonomous cars, electric, fuel cells... Lacking soul but it is needed. What happens to pure driving excitement? Does it generate the need for more tracks for people that still want to drive real cars?

I was surprised they didn't design a quick disconnect battery assembly and swap that.

I had no interest in electric cars until I test drove a Tesla sedan with the max performance option, and it kind of blew my mind.
Batteries are heavy, but putting them in the floor lowers CG and has clear benefits for handling. Instant access to huge torque is also a hoot.
In back to back comparison with my C63 on demanding roads, the Tesla had better handling, braking, and acceleration, and was a better car overall.
