End of Turn 7, the left into the Uphill Esses while still on the flat.

James Clay had a big accident there and the only reason Fichter didn't hit anything hard was because they moved the barriers WAY back.

Either pinched, squeezed or bumped off...

He was in the midst of passing a Bspec car I'm told.

Sportcar365 stated the off was in T13! This makes much more sense now... and I can see the catch fence in one of the clips.

Thank goodness he's OK!

I had to watch it a few times, but when the maintenance road comes into view (and the trajectory made sense, at that speed), it's clear. The tire wall is very close there and I doubt he "dug in." More likely bounced off at a bad angle and that was that.

He owes the cage builder (and the seat and harness installer) a steak dinner, for sure!

Agreed: that roll cage and seat/harness apparatus is indeed steak dinner worthy!
A bit confused though: does it look like the track is going downhill?

It's Turn 7, same place James Clay had a big accident before the walls were moved back.

B-Spec car being lapped squeezed him off drivers left. Hit the barrier at a bad angle and went flying...

It's a nasty looking crash, but on the positive side, the only times he would have experienced big deceleration forces are when the ends of the car bounced off the ground. That was cushioned to some extent by the ground and crumpling ability of the ends of the car, and his harnesses and head/neck restraint probably worked well for him.

I'm not sure that a lot was asked of the roll cage in this particular crash, but if the specifics of the roll had been a little different, the roll cage certainly could have made a big difference.
