Default CL Brake pads

I have found the CL brake pads to performance as well as Hawk DTC-70, be easy on the rotors, easy to bed and last 40% longer. I am wondering why they are not more popular?

Where are you sourcing the CL pads?
I'd be interested in trying them out.
Thanks.

If you guys want CL I can get them for you . Essex Parts is the North American Importer of CL and I am a Motorsports partner of Essex and buy gobs of AP rotors and Ferodo Pads from them.
CL is a cintered pad with great initial bite but they have a tendency to come off of the backing plate
when they get wet. (This is coming from Essex and is not a personal observation).Plus supply is a problem. If Essex doesn't have them in stock it can take 6-8 weeks to get them.

I have never had them come apart but good to keep an eye out for that. Those new calipers and rotors sure look nice!!!

"Better" than DTC70s and last 40% longer? How did you come across this statistic? how are your lap times compared to the other cup cars of the same prep level and class records, and at what track? peak temp data?

No way they last 40% longer. I'm getting 10-12 days on a set of DTC-70's and they still have 3mm left when I throw them out. You're telling me CL pads last 14-17 days? How much is a set?

I get 9-10 days from the CL's on my 3000 lbs Cayman and only got 6 days from the DTC-70's. They are $495 shipped in the ST-60 shape.

Mark if you want too come crew for me we can get all of that data!! lol

I realize each driver is different as is each car. That was just my experience.

heck, its not that i dont believe you , i just find it a little on the extreme side. im wondering if the conditions are controlled . so , you get only 6 days. two full weekends on the DTC70s? i find that wear a little excessive. especially if you are not running a super hard braking track. but , if you did this at the same track for both sets, i tend to believe you . However, the data i would like to see is lap times. I ran this season on a set of PFC01s, i would bet my lap times might be a little faster than yours and they lasted 10 days... still at 7mm and running them one more weekend. *(also 3000lbs). smaller size to yours too, in the ST40 size. If the pads are more of an endurance flavor, that might effect that kind of increase life... but , two weekends for DTC70s. that seem a bit crazy......thats a lot of heat do do that!!

What was the approx price per axle? Trying to benchmark against what they go for in Europe - seems to be $280-300ish per axle for a GT3.

$495 for the front axle.

The rotors have the normal heat cracking and that is no doubt worse as the rotors get older...can't feel with finger nail but no doubt has an effect. The outsides wear faster than the insides so the cooling might not be as even as it could be.

Thats the nature of the beast. you always get more heat on the outside as its almost impossible to get as much cooling on the outer face as it is with deflective cooling or ducting that do favor the inside surfaces and the rotor air inlet.
