Theo's a great young driver. He and his Dad,
Toby, shared the car in the Enduro. Both have lots of experience in high HP historic prototypes and Theo is racing in ELMS this year in a LMP3 for a French team.
Hard to believe these are twenty-five year old cars...

The old IMSA GTP cars were really insanely fast cars ...

To give a little perspective how fast the IMSA GTP cars were, a similar car (an Eagle Mk III-Toyota) ran a 43.1 sec at Lime Rock in 1993 (with the old chicane at the uphill) to set the all time lap record that still stands today ...

Insanely fast, but I gotta wonder if the people driving realize how dangerous these cars are by modern standards, and if they would drive as hard if they did.

They do, believe me. Bob Akin died in a car like this testing for the Mitty many years ago.

It's remarkable what these racing fossils are capable of. Tunnels, horsepower, contact patch combine to rock the driver's world.
To drive one of these well takes a serious level of commitment, and I can assure you, Theo's data looks as good as the video does!

That is a really cool car and I remember when they were raced back in the day. It's so cool to see people that keep cars like this alive and drive them hard.

God I miss the IMSA GTP days! Not the best track but I sure loved going to watch guys like Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson race the 962 Porsches and Gurney Toyotas when they used to come to Del Mar.
