My car has X51 so, on street tires and stock suspension at least, oil starvation isn't as much of an issue.

I think, based upon the short durations of the track sessions, a good "street" oil like DT40 would work just fine, maybe change it mid-week just to be sure.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I think just for the sake of comfort and cargo we are still leaning towards the E39 M5. Sleeping in big leather reclining seats is much easier than GT3 buckets!

No need to change the oil midway through. Really. You're doing 6 laps a day. If the car can't handle that without an oil change midway through, then that's a car that should never leave the garage, as its more art than functional machinery.

I used M1 0w40. My regular interval is 4k miles and I usually do a couple track days per cycle. Oil consumption and analysis after event was no different than others.

You won't be competitive in either car. We loved the experience of doing it in the 911. It was as comfy as any other car there as long as you manage your space. 3 drivers is not necessary, unless you want to invite a friend.

I'm available to any team that's looking for a transit driver!!!

Docwyte, what year did you run. I've met a couple of different B5 driver's from 2002.

I'm a TT National Champion (2007), so they make me run TTU in whatever I drive to keep things fair.

That and I'm too lazy to get a dyno, but like to run with my friends in TT group. 😁

I ran in 2007, had the dark blue S4 avant. Had a fun time have been thinking about doing it again when they roll through Colorado area again.

You might get your wish next year. Hit me up if you need a driver. I live 45 min from the start/finish

That'd be nice but usually Brock Jr swings through here every 7 years or so. I did it in 2007 when he had most of the tracks near me, then he did it again 2-3 years ago.

Depending on when he came through here I'd like to do it in my M3, but only if the M3 is old enough to fall into the "Vintage Foreign" class, otherwise it'd be totally blown into the weeds...

2007 was EPIC Tornados, Monsoon Rain, Snow on I80 through Cheyenne they had to pump the water off the track at MAM so we could run My 1st year in a Red E46M3 all the way to Miller from MAM then back to Pueblo transits. HARDCORE

Yup! I have a pic of a tornado off to our left as were were crossing Oklahoma out running it!

MAM was under water! Like a foot of it in some places in the pits! At least we got out of there early, that made the 1000 mile drive to Miller doable.
