This was just the least expensive, easiest and best data/video solution for the money. While the display capabilities of the Solo are a great thing, I think the OP will benefit (and obviously he does, too) the most from an integrated video/data solution.

I had a few very simple goals.
I wanted to see my lap times while I'm driving on track and I wanted to be able to overlay the data onto video.
The traqmate will achieve both of those goals for me. I'm not racing, I'm either doing time trials with NASA or de's with PCA, so I don't need a really complicated and expensive system...
