Default International parts orders

I'm considering ordering a suit and seat from UK to US. Prices are much less in UK. Seat for $979 here is $497 (w/o VAt, $608 w/ VAT)

Does anyone know if I would have to pay VAT? What about import duties into US?

Thanks.

We import weekly from Holland. It is 2.5% off invoice so relatively speaking it is cheap.

You need to fill out a form 5106 and attach it to the FedEx documents so they have it on file. FedEx will handle all the customs paperwork and they clear it themselves, so it is actually a very painless process.

Duties are different for every country, as far as I know. From Australia I haven't had any charges. From the UK I've had 2.5% and DHL had another $6.50 charge. Don't know if it's the same or not now.

FEDEX does a lot of work for you but they CHARGE you for it... if you can get it shipped USPS (EMS) they often come in with no duties or fees at all. But a seat is probably too big for EMS.

For those in the future with the same question:

No VAT. Broker fee of $47.50. Shipping was as quoted on their web site at checkout.

OMP HTE-R 400 + OMP One EVO+ Shipping +Broker Fee= Price of One EVO alone in US. Recieved 48 hours after I placed the order.

Basically I got a free Seat

Stilo carbon helmets are 1200, Composites are 500. Certain brands have some serious disparity in pricing. Shipping is reasonable.
