Any recommendations where to stay at Palmer? April will be our first time there and we're looking forward to it!

I think we stayed at the Copper Lantern, but I can't remember. NER has http://www.sturbridgehosthotel.com/ as the host hotel.

I've stayed at Sturbridge Host Hotel and Conference Center. It's the one which Matt R mentions.
The track is pretty much in Nowheresville. The Host hotel is a large resort-type hotel in Sturbridge, about 25 minutes from the track.

Sturbridge Host Hotel is the one with the track rate special price/night...IIRC$79.00? BUT, the place is old........but works. About 25 mins from the track. Watch your street speeds around the track the cops are looking for speeders, as the locals don't like the track.
Also, on the main drag (RT 20?) there is a new, Best Western?......not much else......
Surprisingly, there are some damn good restaurants in Sturbridge. BBQ, Sushi, Italian....

At Palmer track website there is a hotel recommended list. No Ritz but good enough to sleep and get a good food/beer at night. Enjoy your first event! You are going to love it.

I stay at the Wedgewood Hotel in Palmer, right on Rt 20. Very basic, but clean and close. I've seen people park their trailers across the road from the main office on an ample lot. You have to call them in person to make reservations, and you have to check in before the attendant leaves for the evening (like 8 or 9) but no worries, they DO have wifi

The Copper Lantern is the closest to the track followed by The Wedgewood. Both are older but kept clean. The Copper Lantern has 3x the number of rooms as the Wedgewood and is more trailer friendly. There is an active railroad close to the Wedgewood.
Sturbridge has the most options.
Sturbridge Host has a great track rate and is very trailer friendly. FYI, some rooms are in need of refurbishment but others are very nice. Giant liquor store right next door.
La Quinta purchased the Best Western last year and completely remodeled it top to bottom. They are still ironing out details, but it is clean and modern. NOT trailer friendly however.
There is a new construction Holiday Inn Express (corner of Rt 20 and New Boston Rd, across from the MSP barracks) which should be opening this season, but I do not know when.
The Comfort Inn is just a little further eastbound on Rt20.
And yes, there are lots of great restaurant choices in Sturbridge, as well as brew pubs.
Sturbridge/Brimfield has a very active and massive antique flea market 3x a year (the largest on the east coast) and rooms fill up quick during those weekends so early reservations are recommended.
