Default Helmet vinyl?

So I'd love a custom design on my helmet but I don't love the 2k+ price tag

Anyone try to do the vinyl instead?

Anyone recommend a less famous painter who gets a bit less for their jobs?

I used Royal Essex in NJ and was pretty pleased with the results - myriad colors, and lots of airbrushing ran $800

No idea on fire resistance, I wouldnt imagine that horrible as long as your not overlapping it into the helmet itself

I did my old helmet for $70.00 all in. It definitely wasn't a few thousand dollar paint job but I got the job done

Pretty nice job - I suck at art

Want a ~1k job not a 3,500 one so that's why I'm hunting for a less well known artist

I priced wraps and they are $300-500 range and allow you the ability to work with them to customize the design and get whatever you want on the helmet much like a custom painter

These 2 were my leading candidates to do my helmet. I ended up never pulling the trigger but may revisit this year.

I too wonder if there is any adverse effect when using vinyl on a helmet. My old GP5 was painted by Censport and i love it. I just purchased a new GP6 and since i'm not regularly racing, i don't think I'll get my GP6 painted (even though i would love to).

Take a look at Haris Decals, https://www.harrisdecals.com/ I used them on my new helmet, cost about $55 and looks good. Take your time doing the install.

I had mine painted last winter as just hated it being all white. Like you, I didnt want to spend a ton and think cost like $500. I went with Yulia at Aerial Fine Arts in Florida. Shipped the helmet to her and got back in a couple week, but you will have to work with her on timing (obviously). She is super nice and was just a pleasure to work with. I'll go back to her with my next helmet...

I went with an ex-Gerhard Berger paint scheme (for some reason, always liked his helmet (the color scheme and simplicity)).
