Three Wheelin'
They had two classes at the Summit Point Club Race this year, one for over 2.4L and one for under. Only for pre-1983 air cooled cars. I understand it was a bit of an experiment, and that it may be done again, but not necessarily at the more highly attended races due to competition for track time. Personally I hope they do more of them.

They replaced the DE with vintage racing at Summit Point. It was cool to see the old cars.
They also preoiled the track before the 944s came out! Twice the oil at one event!

Love the TG shirts in the video! (I may be a little partial though)

SVRA, VDCA, VRG are all active for your car, too.

The Vintage run group at Summit Point PCA Club Race was a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the beginning of PCA Club Racing. And a try-out. PCA wants their old cars back. These were the cars that used to race in PCA CR 20+ years ago.
It was FANTASTIC. Yes, I ran in the Vintage run group and won the very first race (#191). And then my engine blew on the cool down lap... oh, well.
There was one run group for the whole Vintage class -- with massive track time. Three practices, one fun race with practice starts, two warm-up sessions, and FOUR (4) sprint races. No enduro. Track time was more than double, maybe triple, as compared to that of HSR (which is why I stopped doing HSR) and SVRA. There were 4 classes VO62.4 (6 cylinder over 2.4L), VU (6 cylinder under 2.4L), and two more for 4 cylinder, over and under 2.0L. All ran on track together. No rules as to the car performance/parts/etc otherwise (besides safety items). The only rule seemed to be air-cooled and 1983 or older. It was all 911 and 914, no 356.
It was awesome having these fantastic old race cars at the event. Quite the eye candy.
The plan going forward is to pick a few more venues in 2017 and see how it goes...
Picture below is coming to the green flag for the first ever PCA Vintage Club Race run group! And then the end

really like this idea and quite hope that it is more frequent at PCA club racing events ( or standalone ?)
clarke, i have a 1988 911 which has been backdated to 74-ish IROC specs that i run in HSR and SVRA in that class. (3.0 with carbs, no adj shocks, no big wings etc)
would this be eligible to run in the the V06 class?
thanks frank

Frank,
I am guessing here but, yes, I think a backdated HSR eligible 3.0L would work
If they put me in charge I'd okay it.
Hell, just register it as a 1974 IROC.
PCA is not looking to keep anyone out. I think your car is in the spirit of the Vintage group.

I drive my RSR like it has far less displacement :-)
