Default Have You Thanked a Veteran Today

To all my fellow veterans, thank you for your service to our country. On this day that we thank those who served, we also should remember those that did not return. Remember the brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, friends and others that gave up their lives so that each of us can sleep warm and safe at night. If you think that times are tough ask someone who’s assaulted a hill, survived an ambush, survived an IED or lived through incoming and they may tell you what tough is. Again I say, to all my fellow veterans, thank you for your service to our country.

My dad is 93 and wears his Marines hat every day. Thanks to all the Veterans!

I keep in contact with my buddies and having a couple Army vets over for dinner. Living in Monterey is special. Literally down the road from where I did basic training.

Saw Hacksaw Ridge tonight. -- powerful film btw.

Memorable line in it

"In peacetime sons bury their fathers. In wartime, fathers bury their sons."

Thank you veterans.

Mine is 91 and was an advance-force commando leading up to and on D-Day, an also liberated two major concentration camps. Seeing his pictures and hearing him describe the sights, sounds, and smells...it's amazing what these young lads did.

All gave some and some gave all. We should be humbled by their service and sacrifice.

How very true. And then there are the sons that they don't even get to bury.

For those that know a vet who has been in battle ask them about their experiences. If you're really lucky they may tell you about their time in the service. The stories they have are stories of good times and bad times. And remember, once they are gone the untold stories are gone.
