Lotus Exige Cup
I'm interested in finding out more about racing an Exige Cup, are there any racing series/venues in the Midwest/East for these cars with decent competition?
What should a fresh competitive car sell for? How are the running costs compared to Spec Boxster for example?
Please comment with any info on racing or tracking one of these machines.
Thanks,
JF

Several Lotus race cars here:
http://www.wirewheel.com/LOTUS.html
$57K for Exige cup up to $100K for Exige World Challenge cars.
No affiliation. Great cars. I've ridden right seat in several and been passed by many more. Like a 250HP Miata. I fit (6'0" 190) but feel like I need a shoe horn to get in and out.
Good luck.

Hi Matt:
I have but I really don't want the cost and development time of building one from scratch. I don't have the skills to complete the build on my own and I'm sure it will be an expensive process to have a recognized shop complete the build for me.
Spec Boxster is definately a possibility, although I have to get my head around having only 50% of the RWHP of my 996 Cup. I'm probably not going to race the Cup anymore, the recent engine a gearbox rebuilds have set me back over $40k and it's just proving to expensive to race it as much as I want to.

Hey there, you might want to contact Greg Vannucci out of IA
he has been running Exige Cups for years and whipping every German and American / American Iron cars with it.
He has outfitted it now with a stock Toyota motor from a Sienna - 250 hp i think - no mods.
Couple of thousand dollars for the engine. Runs the hell out of it for a few years and gets another.
plug and play. Car is super light and dependable easy to work on. Article and pic here: https://nasaspeed.news/race-coverage...0-hours-labor/

I have the great super chance to know this car quite well.
It is one of the best track car that I ever drove.
I have been in Europe in many tracks with this car (Exige V6 Cup) and it is simply fabulous.
I do remember when it was brand new, it was already dam great, but since that, it has been few times at Komo-tec (in Germany, ..very close to a track that I totally dislike : the Ring, but also not too far than what I consider as one of the best track of the World, i.e.: Spa !).
The current results of the Komo-tec tuning on this car is ..458 hp on the dyno!
Yes, just a real incredible car.

However, they have an ST1 package for them now. Built motor, hoosiers, and some extra aero bits. I saw some in car from road atlanta and it's an angry bitch in that form.
*Edit
Here's the video. 1:26 and it wasn't on stickers. Porsche cup pole was 123.9 last year at road atlanta.

We were faster than than the Whole Thunder Group- AIX AI SI CMC PT SZ GTS1-3 SE46- That's why we were in Blitz. The Porsche that caught me on the last lap after the split start was 10 seconds faster (Mostly due to straights)
We had 12 of them out there. It was a blast. Running Pump gas, Cheap tires, Sequential Transmissions- There is no better bang for your buck. The Aero is FUN. CHEAP FAST RACING. I was looking at buying a 996 Cupcar- Then was talked out of it because of the maintenance cost to run them. I bought one of these and am so glad I did.
