Which do you think is the most competitive class in PCA club racing? Why?

You are likely to get many different responses on this. I think many classes are "competitive" depending on your interpretation of what that means. My view is E, SPB and gtb1 have consistent large competitive fields. There many great classes throughout Pca racing, depending on what you are looking for (and your budget) and where you are located. And I am biased towards E class!

That's precisely why I race SPB, I need to become a better driver to be competitive and not depend soo much on lots of money for top mechanics to set up car up for victory.... But I understand completely that set up is also part of racing.....

I dont run race fuel, 1set of slicks per we(competitor up to 4x brand new sets)
I ran with ****ty suspension setup in my F boxster and was keeping up with h/i cars.
Same with the gtb1, with gtb3 cars and some cup cars.
Racing nose to tail with c gomez, doug dipietro, guys that are in the same class and same skills. Thats competition to me.
I think PCA need to stop adding other classes.
Racing with 1-2 guys is not competition.

Competitive field in racing, to me, is a large field with equally matched equipment, relying highly on driver skill to separate top, mid, and bottom.
If considering cost, SPB seems to be the best bang for the buck for competitive amateur racing based on above criteria, IMO.

I liked E better when it was a toss up between very different cars. Watching Mark Hupfer and Karl Poeltl hammer on each other was epic. Now it's basically a Spec 911 class, but loaded with great drivers.

Taking all this "Competitive" one step further, PCA should have a "Runoffs" as well as a Points Champion. That would make for some great races in all the classes mentioned above. (How's the weather at COTA in December????)

This may also be region-dependent, so would be nice if everyone stated which regions they are talking about.

Todd Lamb is one of the top contenders, and yes he is a pro. as is Sean Gibbons,
and let's not forget Matt Mueller, James Counterman, Robbie Provost and Hunt McMahon just to name a few top drivers in SPB east........
I consider myself lucky to share the track and learn from all of them.....

In the East Coast the SPB class is the biggest by far (as far as I can tell 20-30+ cars per race) and still growing......

We'll see if Spec Cayman becomes the class to be in starting next year. As everyone knows I was totally on board from day one!
