For Sebring Racers and DEers - Kenilworth Hotel Condemned
Ok... now that's a disturbing article.
Whoa. Since 1988 in that rough old place...
FINALLY...
amazing. I was shocked and felt like I had gone back in time by 50 yrs the first time I visited this place.
Why oh why would someone fail to maintain the fire suppression system especially if your venting lint into electrical outlets.
Years back I was involved in a fireworks store that burned killing 8 people and badly injuring many others. Sprinkler system was turned off (along with other issues). I willnever forget the photos and testimony of witnesses/survivors. |
Now we have 2 closed historical hotels if walls could talk :)

The story in Rich's link explains why that one still hasn't reopened. I remember hearing a few years ago that it was going to be renovated and reopened.
I stayed at the Kenilworth this year for the club race. I like interesting places like it and will give them a shot since I have plenty of opportunities in my travels to stay in cookie cutter hotels. I hope the code violations are corrected at the Kenilworth and it reopens. |

It's not the Ritz but I've stayed in a lot worse.

So Harder Hall is right behind The Inn on the Lake???
Instead of spending money on a lawsuit they should be fixing the problem as quickly as they can and hiring a PR firm to restore public confidence.
I wouldn't stay there until I knew everything was fine. Where the hell was the fire department's inspectors before this? Sounds like these problems existed for decades. |
